A Slice of Heaven {to go}

Pie is sugary, yummy and full of love. It also happens to be one of Jon's favorite desserts...wait, make that his favorite thing period. For those of you who watch Food Network, my last statement just made me feel like Ina Garten and her Jeffery. Ina is one of my favorite cooks (her recipes are always just right), and her life story is very inspiring. 30 years ago she was working in the White House Budget Office when she found a specialty foods store for sale in the Hamptons. She went out to visit and put an offer on the place. Jeffery and Ina knew nothing about their new venture, but Ina's dream was to do something creative, so they drove right in! Their story is so romantic, I just love it!

Today, I baked my first fresh mixed berry pie. I can't wait to get more creative with the pastry on top, but found egg washing to give the crust a perfect golden glow. I also centered a paper-crafting project around the pie, so I'd have a chance to try out a cute new idea! Most pies serve 8, so to spread sugary happiness to friends, I've made a to-go box for a slice of pie. The pie boxes were really easy to make! The hand stamped decorative label turns a simple slice of pie into a happy little gift. Below are pictures of the project and my lazy & hairy assistant ;0)

-XOXO!! Corey
